Business Careers Overview

Although it might sound like a vague industry title, business careers are united in their focus on economic markets, innovation, and financial efficiency. This fascinating career allows professionals to participate actively in the economy on a national and international scale. It's true that many aspects of business jobs focus on mathematical principles, such as accounting, auditing, budgeting, and organizing logistics. However, the industry isn't given quite enough credit for how much creativity one truly needs to be successful in business.

Business Education

A strong understanding of market histories and their technical relationships is crucial for careers in business. Because the field of business covers such a vast arena, most types of business careers will require a minimum of a Bachelor's degree. Although not always required, it's highly recommended that business professionals obtain certification in a foreign language and modern technological tools related to the field.

Business Job Market

Since business is such an extensive field, the state of the job market depends largely on the particular job in question. However, the Bureau of Labor Statistics projects a positive future for most business professionals. On the higher end of growth included Meeting, Convention, and Event Planners, Market Research Analysts, Personal Financial Advisors, and Cost Estimators-- all of which projected growth levels well over 20%.

Business Salaries

According to the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE), the average starting salary for a graduate with a business degree is $54,000. On the higher end of the scale are Accountants, Budget Analysts, Financial Analysts, Financial Examiners, Logisticians, and Personal Financial Advisors-- all of which typically bring in well over $60,000 per year.

In terms of benefits, business careers have the added perk of tax-deductible expenses, including travel, lodging, food, and other costs incurred while conducting business.
