Dick's Sporting Goods to Open 150 Stores By 2018

Dick's Sporting Goods, Inc. announced a store expansion plan to include opening between 135 and 150 locations in the next three years in order to accelerate e-commerce growth and build brand equity. The move comes after forecasts of sales increasing up to $9 billion annually by 2017.
"We continue to be excited about the profitable long-term growth opportunities of our business," said Edward W. Stack, Chairman and CEO, in a press release. "We are operating in an attractive space in which we continue to gain market share and believe there is significant runway ahead."
The retailer plans to invest $850 million in new stores, remodels and e-commerce and to focus on underserved markets. The company will grow it's brand to approximately 735 to 750 total stores by the end of 2017, in addition to boosting e-commerce sales to approximately $1 billion to $1.2 billion in 2017.
The retailer plans to open nine stores in 2015 and five to eight stores in both 2016 and 2017.
