Q. How can I motivate myself to work hard?
A. Get motivated by setting quantifiable goals and measure your performance against them. Motivation can be improved on a daily basis when you look at the goals regularly and see what it takes to accomplish them.
Surround yourself with resources and tools to fuel your motivation. For example, get an accountability partner—this can be a colleague you can check in with frequently as you set weekly or even daily goals. Push each other, support each other and motivate each other to work harder.
Remind yourself of past accomplishments and what motivated you to aspire to reach them. Even something as simple as having a motivational quote on your cubicle wall can help ground you in motivation. Also, peruse #MondayMotivation on Twitter whenever you need a jolt of inspiration.
Overall, you may need to get a job that’s more challenging. Sometimes lack of motivation can result from boredom and being disinterested. You’ll probably find when you have a more challenging job that gets you excited and fully engaged, in turn, you’ll be motivated to work hard.
