Would you rather get a 10% pay raise or free lunch for life?

Monster hit the streets of New York City to find the answer to this burning career question.

Would you rather get a 10% pay raise or free lunch for life?

Read that question in the headline one more time (and yes, we're serious): "Would you rather get a 10% pay raise or free lunch for life?"

Repeat it to yourself. Think carefully. Crunch those numbers. It's surprisingly difficult, isn't it? On the one hand, you get a fatter paycheck, can boost your 401(k) savings, and can buy yourself another beer with no regrets. On the other hand, free lunch. For life.

Our "Monster on the Street" team recently hit New York City to ask people what they'd choose given this quandary, and their answers may surprise you—particularly if you can't imagine taking anything but the pay raise. Which, let us remind you, will compound over time, so that your next percentage raise will net you a much higher amount. A sandwich can't do much for your lifetime earning potential.

On the other hand, though, sandwiches are really good...

(And if you're in that camp, you might consider a job at FacebookGoogle and TripAdvisor, which are among the companies that offer free lunch.)
