This contract to hire role as an Accountant in Richardson, TX is responsible for preparing various statutory financial reports, quarterly and annual statements for an external audience. This position is also responsible for the quarterly and annual state reporting for various insurance companies. Compilation process involves researching and interpreting rules and regulations, advanced analysis of the financial information, posting journal entries, preparing account reconciliations, data input to various forms, coordinating the data compilation with other areas, and responding to escalated questions or issues.


Responsibilities:


        Responsible for paying the monthly, quarterly and annual state assessments.

•        Maintain state reporting database that contains details of assessments.

•        Maintain the Plan-to-Plan (P2P) payments

•        Prepare check requests to various providers

•        Prepare journal entries to record P2P activity

•        Prepare balance sheet account reconciliations.

•        Prepare monthly intercompany settlements.

•        Prepare statutory quarterly and annual statements.

•        Perform special projects as needed.


Job Requirements:


•        College degree in business with accounting coursework OR 4 years of accounting experience Knowledge of basic accounting.

•        MS Office, including Word, Excel and Access.

•        Experience with Financial Systems.

•        Analytical skills.

•        Clear, concise communication with good grammar, appropriate word choice.

 

Preferred Job Requirements:

 

•        Bachelor’s degree in Accounting

•        Intermediate level experience with Excel

•        Experience with financial reporting systems such as Oracle, FIS (SunGard), Workiva
