Part-Time Accountant

Compensation: Up to $30 per hour
Schedule: Part-time, 20 hours per week
Location: Grand Rapids, MI

Are you a skilled accountant with a passion for nonprofit work? Join our client's team in Grand Rapids, MI, as a part-time accountant, supporting impactful programs with accurate financial management. This role is ideal for someone with QuickBooks expertise, strong organizational skills, and an interest in growing within a nonprofit setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Accounts Payable

    • Enter and pay bills weekly.
  2. Credit Card Transactions

    • Post expenses for multiple cardholders, collect receipts, reconcile balances weekly.
  3. Program Expense Tracking

    • Track and allocate expenses to the appropriate programs.
  4. QuickBooks Management

    • Oversee all QuickBooks functions, including bank reconciliation, transaction posting, and ongoing data entry.
    • Clean up and resolve posting issues, manage internal audit work papers, and ensure smooth financial operations.
  5. Monthly Journal Entries

  6. Payroll Journal Entry

    • Record payroll journal entries.
  7. Growth Opportunities

    • Assist with budget development, billing, and audit preparation as you grow in the role.

Qualifications:

  • Must-Have:

    • Associate’s degree in Accounting or equivalent experience.
    • QuickBooks experience
    • A few years of bookkeeping or general ledger experience, including data entry and cleanup work.
  • Preferred:

    • Experience in a nonprofit environment, ADP Workforce Now, medical billing, grant management, or familiarity with the healthcare sector
    • Leadership or coaching experience.
