Avantus Federal is seeking Executive administrative specialists to support the Information Innovation Office (I2O) in providing a full range of administrative services. I2O explores game-changing technologies in the fields of information science and software to anticipate and create rapid shifts in the complex national security landscape. Conflict can occur in traditional domains such as land, sea, air, and space, and in emerging domains such as cyberspace. I2O’s research portfolio is focused on anticipating new modes of warfare in these emerging areas and developing the concepts and tools necessary to provide decisive advantage for the U.S. and its allies. 


A successful candidate will be able to work in a high pace environment, deliver quality products and address multiple requirements. The candidate can apply their administrative skills to help solve complex issues and ensure the office workflow continues even during high demand activities. Duties include:

  • Manage and maintain the  calendars and schedules of I2O senior personnel and resolve conflicting priorities and orchestrate changes to the calendar, as required, that may include coordination, verification, and scheduling of meetings with senior government personnel, congressional members and staff, industry, and academia personnel.
  • Plan, coordinate, and confirm logistical support (transportation, badges, security clearance paperwork, audio visual support, and etc. for meetings; escort, greet, and provide information supporting visits to I2O.
  • Coordinate office administrative functions including processing security clearance and visit requests for I2O Deputy Director and visitors, scheduling office events and ordering supplies.
  • Provide administrative support for the operation of the office, to include setting up meetings, managing schedules, arranging travel, greeting and escorting visitors, correspondence, performing topic research, tracking equipment/services, general office support.
  • Advanced skills and knowledge in Microsoft Office applications are required.
  • Provide support to coordinate the daily programmatic and organizational activities required to support the office. This requires daily interaction with other scientific, engineering, and technical assistance (SETA) support staff to organize, direct and coordinate the workload to meet the mission of I2O.

  • At least four (4) years of direct administrative support experience, including word processing, spreadsheet development, documenting management issues, financial analysis, data collection, briefing preparation, read milestone schedules, and send and receive e-mails. Within those four (4) years of experience, at least two (2) years of which within DoD.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to use DoD travel, correspondence, workflow and other administrative tools
  • Proficient in the Microsoft Office suite
  • Active DOD Top Secret clearance with ability to obtain clearances at the highest level #AvantusClearedJob

  • An AA degree or higher degree preferred 
  • Previous DARPA, Defense Agency and/or OSD experience a plus
