Accredited by AACSB International, the Belk College of Business at UNC Charlotte offers outstanding business education programs in a variety of disciplines. The college has more than 2,500 undergraduate students, 500 graduate students, and 87 full-time faculty members. The Belk College is one of the largest business programs in the Carolinas. This position will serve the Master of Business Administration (MBA) program, Master of Accountancy (MACC) program, MS in Mathematical Finance, MS in Economics, and MS in Real Estate programs. These programs have both working professionals and full-time students, with classes meeting both during the day and in the evenings.
Primary Purpose of Position
The Assistant Director's primary goal is to enhance the career and professional development opportunities available to graduate students by providing access to appropriate opportunities for individual career development, professional networking, and internships/employment.
Summary of Position Responsibilities
- The Assistant Director builds relationships with potential employers to expand and promote internship opportunities for graduate business students. The Assistant Director is responsible for all Belk College Graduate Program communications with recruiters, students, faculty, alumni, and other stakeholders regarding career and professional development services
- The Assistant Director manages and presents career and professional development outreach programs, workshops, classroom instruction, networking events, and seminars to students, promoting professional success in the business industry.
- The Assistant Director is responsible for assessing and meeting the individual career development and advising needs of graduate students. This includes providing individual assistance on all related job search strategies and techniques, pre-admission and admission counseling, and academic advising.
Minimum Education/Experience
- Graduate degree from an accredited institution
- 2 years of experience in career services or professional development
- Demonstrated excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- Higher education experience and familiarity with the business graduate student population.
- Strong preference will be given to individuals with graduate degrees in counseling, higher education administration, student development, MBA, or business discipline from AACSB-accredited schools.
- Understanding of business disciplines and current trends in the graduate employment marketplace.
- Ability to work autonomously to provide insight, develop, and implement a direction for the career development function for the Belk College of Business Graduate Programs Office.
- Demonstrate the ability to work effectively with students, faculty, staff, college, and university administration, business community, and other important stakeholders.
