Position Purpose: The Associate General Counsel will provide broad-based real estate law counseling advice regarding all aspects of Dartmouth’s real estate and construction portfolio, and will assist with managing real estate related administrative proceedings and litigation. The position reports to the AVP of Real Estate and Special Counsel and ultimately to the General Counsel as a member of the Office of the General Counsel team.
Required Qualifications
- Ten years of experience in real estate law in New Hampshire
- Bachelor’s degree and a JD from a nationally recognized law school with excellent academic credentials
- Licensed to practice law within the State of New Hampshire
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Excellent interpersonal communications skills and positive, collaborative working style
- Strong academic background with excellent analytical, advocacy, problem-solving, and transaction and project management skills
- Ability to relate well to diverse groups and to build strong relationships
- Possesses an innovative and strategic approach to problem solving

Job Responsibilities
- Provides legal advice to Campus Services and other divisional College administrators on real estate matters including construction, development, acquisitions, and leases.
- Drafts and negotiates contracts and provides legal advice regarding negotiation strategy.
- Assists with legal aspects of Board of Trustee reporting.
- Manages College litigation matters relating to real property and facilities.
- Partners with Campus Services leadership in the formulation and execution of strategies for real property assets.
