The Associate Scientist II, Biomanufacturing is responsible for duties relating to standard purification of antibodies and proteins.

Responsibilities

  • Perform various laboratory and manufacturing tasks in accordance with Aldevron Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Prepare stock solutions and buffers including buffers specific for project
  • Prepare equipment for purification process by performing column cleaning, resin regeneration, column packing and skid clean-in-place (CIP) and perform dish washing activities
  • Assisting lead scientists throughout protein manufacturing and protein purification processes, including in-process sample analysis
  • Complete work independently under direction from the lab scientists
  • Demonstrate high ethical standards, good judgement and trustworthiness
  • Use and maintain laboratory equipment including, but not limited to, Homogenizers, centrifuges, Chromatography skids, spectrophotometers, pipettes, and pH meter
  • Maintain meticulous batch records following good documentation practices

Required Skills

  • Strong knowledge of protein biochemistry
  • Knowledge of documentation protocols
  • Good communication skills
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Ability to maintain accurate lab documentation
  • Ability to manage time and multiple priorities to meet deadlines

Must-Haves

  • B.S. in biochemistry, biotechnology, biology or related field
  • 0-2 years of hands-on experience in purification and characterization of recombinant proteins

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions 

This position works in a lab setting and may come in contact with various solutions and chemicals and will be responsible for activities related to biological processes such as bacterial growth. This position uses standard laboratory equipment such as pipettes, centrifuges, glass ware, shake flasks, fermenters, fume hoods, and computers. 

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to see, talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; bend; lift up to 50 pounds; use arms, hands and fingers for various activities.  This position may stand or remain sedentary for long periods of time. This position routinely works with large pieces of equipment.
