ManTech International is a leader in advanced technologies to help government and industry manage and protect information, support and maintain critical systems, and develop integrated solutions for mission-critical national security programs.

However, ManTech also has a small team (~25 people) of biologists, ecologists, environmental planners, and GIS professionals based out of California who work on federal contracts with various military installations across the Western region. This satellite team works with military and civilian personnel on federal landholdings to responsibly and effectively manage land and wildlife for conservation.

We are seeking a midlevel Project Manager & Botanist that will be responsible for coordinating our broad monitoring program associated with invasive species control and restoration projects primarily on Vandenberg Space Force Base and Naval Base Ventura County San Nicolas Island. The Botanist will work under the direction of our Projects Director and Deputy Program Manager and collaboratively with our Invasive Species & Restoration Field Managers to ensure data collection procedures are followed efficiently based on scientific rigor yet balancing available natural resource budgets. This multidisciplinary position will also conduct wetland delineations, vegetation mapping based on the California Manual of Vegetation (second edition), aerial vegetation mapping by helicopter, small scientific studies on herbicide efficacy, and greenhouse management for native plants. Therefore, applicants with demonstrated experience across disciplines in restoration ecology, vegetation ecology, wetland delineation, aerial survey experience, and/or greenhouse management will be strongly considered.

The applicant must have strong botanical identification, statistical analysis, GIS, and technical writing skills and will primarily be based in an office environment in Lompoc. However, applicants can expect up to ~25% field time with occasional travel to nearby military installations. This is an exempt position that reports directly to the Deputy Program Manager. Salary is commensurate with experience and will range from $58,000 - $62,400. Applicants must reside in or be willing to relocate to Santa Barbara County in California.

*To apply, please include a Statement of Qualifications with your resume. Supporting materials such as previous habitat monitoring plans or other supporting products (e.g., GIS maps) produced solely by the applicant are strongly encouraged to support the Statement of Qualifications. Applicants that do not outline how they meet the below qualifications will not be considered.*
