Job Title: Building Plan Check Engineer
Location: Irvine, CA
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM (On-site)
Start Date: As soon as possible
Relocation Assistance: Not provided. Candidates must currently reside in California.

Position/Responsibilities:

• Provide comprehensive building plan reviews for compliance with applicable California Codes (Title 24) and locally adopted ordinance amendments.

• Prepare written plan review comments for both initial and recheck submittals.

• Review responses from the design team and ensure adherence to all applicable regulations.

• Communicate with the design team, applicants, and/or owners as appropriate during the review process from start to finish.

• Utilize strong communication and interpersonal skills to facilitate collaboration and effective problem-solving.

Skills and Credentials:

• Education: Bachelor's Degree (minimum) in Architectural, Civil, or Structural Engineering or related field.

• Experience: At least 5 years of experience as a Building Plan Check Engineer.

• Licensing:

  • Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) or Structural Engineer (S.E.) in California (required).

  • ICC Plans Examiner certification (highly desirable).

• Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in Bluebeam for plan checking.

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Word and general office computer skills.

  • Ability to navigate and review electronic plans effectively.

• Additional Requirements:

  • Valid California Driver's License.

  • Experience working in a city building department or for a consulting firm providing building plan check services to California cities.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
