Job Title: Technician Level II (Structured Cabling / Low Voltage)
Location: Rockhill, SC
Schedule: Monday – Thursday, 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM (4x12s)
Pay: $17 – $20 per hour (DOE)
Role Summary
The Tech II is responsible for performing structured cabling and low-voltage installations in accordance with BICSI standards, project drawings, and company quality requirements.
This role is focused on execution, consistency, and craftsmanship—not project management or crew leadership.
Key Responsibilities
Cabling Installation (Independent)
- Install and dress copper cabling (Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6A) and basic fiber optic cabling
- Route cables according to project drawings and pathways
- Maintain proper bend radius and pull tension
- Install J-hooks, cable trays, and basic conduit
- Ensure proper separation from power systems
Termination & Labeling
- Terminate jacks and patch panels independently
- Assist with fiber termination (mechanical or pre-terminated)
- Apply accurate labeling per project standards
- Maintain clean, organized racks and panels
Pathways & Infrastructure
- Install and modify cable support systems (J-hooks, trays)
- Install sleeves and stubs as directed
- Follow firestopping requirements (if certified)
- Ensure proper cable support and spacing
Testing & Troubleshooting (Assisted)
- Perform basic copper testing
- Identify and correct common installation issues
- Assist with certification testing
- Document test results as required
Safety Responsibilities
- Follow all jobsite safety requirements
- Use proper PPE at all times
- Safely operate ladders and lifts
- Report unsafe conditions immediately
- Stop work if safety or quality is compromised
Qualifications
Required:
- 2+ years of structured cabling or low-voltage experience
- Ability to work independently
- Familiarity with BICSI standards
- Ability to read blueprints and project drawings
- Comfortable working at heights and in ceiling spaces
Preferred:
- BICSI Installer 1 (or equivalent experience)
- OSHA 10 or higher
- Manufacturer certifications
