The Position

The mission of every Robertson employee is to execute their responsibilities with the #1 goal of saving and protecting the lives of service members across the globe.  Computer Aided Design (CAD) Operators create and revise engineering models and assemblies in order to draft engineering drawings and support project design.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Drafts and designs aviation fuel system components and assemblies
  • Drafts and designsground vehicle  fuel system components and assemblies
  • Drafts and designs bladder assemblies, hardware, constructions and manufacturing equipment and tooling
  • Proactively seeks guidance and technical work product review from experienced co-workers to evaluate and/or determine potential impact of designs and improve understanding of standard operating procedures
  • Assists in design changes and process updates as required
  • Marginal duties may include the following:
    • Provides support for engineering activities as required
  • Adherence to Export Control and Technology Control Plan (TCP) as applicable to job function
  • Adherence to Compliance Plan and Employee Policy Manual

Education and Experience

A High School Diploma or GED equivalent; and a minimum of five (5) years of experience in a CAD Operator or similar engineering design role; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. An Associate’s Degree (AA) in Engineering or related Technical Trade Certification is preferred.


Professional Qualifications


  • A solid understanding of Computer Aided Design (CAD) tools and software (e.g. SolidWorks, AutoCAD, CATIA V5, Pro/E) is required to design and draft components
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering designs and drawings
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Project, Outlook, PowerPoint; and Access as required)
  • Mathematical understanding consistent with the educational requirements
  • Ability to read, write and communicate clearly and effectively in English
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
  • Ability to use various tools to identify and solve problems
  • Strong customer service and company culture/reputation orientation
  • Familiarity with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)


  • Familiarity with SolidWorks Computer Aided Design
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this position, the incumbent is regularly required to sit, walk and stand.  The incumbent is occasionally required to climb, squat, bend or knee.  The incumbent must occasionally lift or carry a maximum of 25 pounds; as well as push or pull a maximum of 50 pounds.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this position, the incumbent is regularly exposed to a normal office environment, heat or cold ranging between 65 and 80 degree ambient conditions.  The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate (<85 dB).  The incumbent is occasionally required to wear PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) including safety glasses.
