Seeking a Certified Acute Care Pediatric Nurse Practitioner or Certified Acute Care and Primary Care Pediatric Nurse Practitioner
This is a combined day/night position: Full-time (days, nights, weekends, call, and holidays)

Master's degree or higher in nursing, documentation of completion of accredited Acute Care Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (PNP).

- Prefer Dual Certification for both Primary and Acute Care Pediatric Nurse Practitioner to function independently in a high acuity, fast paced pediatric cardiac intensive care unit caring for patients with congenital heart disease including both pre-surgical and post-surgical patients, acquired heart disease, and post-surgical adult congenital heart disease.
- Schedule expectations include covering primary CICU service, second service which consists of step-down patient population, pediatric cardiac inpatient floor patients, taking call for inpatient floor cardiac patients, and the high risk home patient population (on-call, clinic, and in hospital). Will need to work approximately 50% of shifts days and 50% of shifts nights with APP coverage 24/7.

Position Key Accountabilities:
- Conducts complex, standardized patient care procedures which require experience and specialized training which would otherwise be performed by a physician, but which do not constitute the practice of medicine.
- Conducts independent and physician supervised rounding on unit.
- Performs relevant patient evaluations and assessments, and provides appropriate treatment; including monitoring and ordering medications.
- Coordinates, directs, and implements the patient's plan of care.
- Assists in collecting patient histories, screens for co-morbidities, and provides guidance and preventative health care as needed.
- Performs physical examinations and provides episodic care, or problem-oriented care, under the supervision of a physician.
- Orders appropriate laboratory, diagnostic and radiographic tests, and interprets results.
- Monitors the treatment program of the patient to inform the attending physician of pertinent medical information.
- Facilitates patient education relating to medical processes, medication, nutrition, and health promotion or preventative health care.
- Assists physicians in formulating therapeutic decisions.
- Maintains appropriate records, and prepares charts for review and counter signature by physician.
- Prepares and cares for supplies and equipment.
- Responds to emergency situations.
- Performs within the scope of practice prescribed by licensure and certification.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

- Current Texas Licensure as a Registered Nurse
- Current Texas Licensure as an APRN-NP
- Current specialty certification as required by department - Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner Acute Care (preferred Primary and Acute Care Certified)
- Required Basic Life Support (BLS) certified
- Required Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certified
- Preferred Adult Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certified

Minimum Experience:
Cardiac experience preferred, but not required.

Physical Requirements:
Exerts up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 30 pounds frequently and/or up to 20 pounds constantly to move objects.
