The Chief Medical Officer (CMO) will report to, and work closely with, the President & CEO. They will also partner with other senior leaders and the Board of Directors to develop and implement strategies across the organization, including policies and plans to meet St. Anthony's short- and long-term objectives. The CMO will provide leadership to employed, contracted, aligned medical staff, and contracted medical directors.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Development and implementation of systems and processes that ensure the highest quality of care, patient safety, and evidence-based medicine standards.
  2. Overseeing, directing, and supporting medical management decisions that maximize benefits for patients while supporting corporate objectives.
  3. Conducting regular chart reviews and audits as part of ongoing Quality Assurance programs.
  4. Meeting regularly with medical staff providers to discuss clinical opportunities for care improvement.
  5. Developing and maintaining collegial relationships with physicians and clinical staff to promote engagement and quality patient care.
  6. Advising administration on clinical strategy development and resolving medical and administrative issues.
  7. Providing physician leadership to support clinical outcomes, quality initiatives, and engaging providers in developing patient care policies, protocols, and procedures.

Education and/or Experience:

  1. Valid MD/DO license in Iowa with no pending or previous disciplinary action; board certification or eligibility in specialty.
  2. Current DEA license.
  3. Minimum of five years healthcare experience.

The position involves 50-60% clinical work, with the remainder dedicated to CMO/administrative duties.
