The Chief Medical Officer (CMO) will report to, and work closely with, the President & CEO. They will also partner with other senior leaders and the Board of Directors to develop and implement strategies across the organization, including policies and plans to meet St. Anthony's short- and long-term objectives. The CMO will provide leadership to employed, contracted, and aligned medical staff, as well as contracted medical directors.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and implement systems and processes that ensure the highest quality of care, patient safety, and evidence-based medicine standards.
  2. Oversee, direct, and support medical management decisions that maximize benefits for patients while supporting corporate objectives.
  3. Conduct regular chart reviews and audits as part of ongoing Quality Assurance programs.
  4. Meet regularly with medical staff providers to discuss clinical opportunities for care improvement.
  5. Develop and maintain collegial relationships with physicians and clinical staff to promote engagement and quality patient care.
  6. Advise administration on clinical strategy development and recommend resolutions to medical and administrative issues.
  7. Provide physician leadership to support clinical outcomes, quality initiatives, and engage providers in developing patient care policies, protocols, and procedures.

Education and/or Experience:

  1. Valid MD/DO license in Iowa with no pending or previous disciplinary action; board certification or eligibility in specialty.
  2. Current DEA license.
  3. Minimum of five years of healthcare experience.

The position will involve 50-60% clinical work, with the remaining duties in a CMO/administrative role.
