Provides leadership serving as an expert in scientific, strategic and tactical discussions regarding technical direction of laboratory services in collaboration with internal, medical and scientific colleagues, as well as with external experts and investigators.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to, the following:

  1. Leads Health Network Laboratories in evidenced based cutting-edge technology development.
  2. Develops and executes all of CLIA/CAP certified lab work ensuring that the laboratory meets state and federal guidelines and achieves excellence in quality at every level.
  3. Interfaces with HNL executive team to ensure that laboratory work is coordinated and integrated into company's strategic goals.
  4. Recruits and leads scientific laboratory personnel, ensuring that all employees are adequately qualified, trained, and motivated to perform their duties.
  5. Ensures that physical and environmental conditions in the laboratory are appropriate for the testing performed and adheres to employee safety requirements.
  6. Works with laboratory management to oversee day-to-day management of laboratory personnel, procedures, and technical and scientific operations.
  7. Implements best practices in an environment of Continuous Improvement.
  8. Contributes to and develops tests in area of expertise.
  9. Participates and contributes to major reports, products, papers, presentations and peer reviewed journals.
  10. Collaborates with physician colleagues to guide and execute testing strategies that are evidenced based and financially sound.

Must be qualified as a clinical consultant under CLIA regulations Sec. 493.1455.

(Minimum qualification level at Ph.D. or M.D.) with 4 years of experience.

Must have a minimum of 4 years of experience as a CLIA Laboratory Director.

Language Ability:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format.

Math Ability:

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Computer Skills:

Ability to use Microsoft office products, and various other computer software products ncluding the Laboratory Information System.

Certificates and Licenses:

Must be certified by the appropriate board of the particular discipline:

  • Chemistry
  • Molecular
  • Toxicology
  • Other field of specialty
