Virtus Healthcare Staffing is seeking a passionate and experienced Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) to join the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at a leading Level II Adult and Pediatric Trauma Center in Anchorage, Alaska. This is a full-time, day shift position at a hospital with 401 licensed beds.
Provide Expert NICU Clinical Leadership in Scenic Alaska
As a NICU Clinical Nurse Specialist, you will provide expert consultation and leadership in the care of critically ill neonates, enhancing patient outcomes and promoting evidence-based practice.
Position Overview:
As a NICU Clinical Nurse Specialist, you will play a vital role in providing expert consultation and leadership in the care of critically ill neonates. You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to enhance patient outcomes, promote evidence-based practice, and foster a culture of continuous improvement within the NICU. This role requires advanced clinical knowledge, strong leadership skills, and a dedication to providing family-centered care.
Responsibilities:
- Provide expert consultation and guidance to nurses and other healthcare professionals in the care of neonates with complex medical conditions.
- Collaborate with the healthcare team to develop and implement evidence-based practices and protocols to improve patient outcomes.
- Lead quality improvement initiatives and participate in research activities to advance the care of critically ill neonates.
- Educate and mentor nurses and other healthcare professionals, fostering their professional development and clinical expertise.
- Serve as a resource for families, providing education and support during a challenging time.
- Advocate for patient safety and quality care within the NICU and throughout the hospital.
- Stay abreast of the latest advancements in neonatal care and promote a culture of continuous learning.
Qualifications:
- Education: Master's Degree from a clinical nurse specialist program accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) or the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC).
- Experience:
- 3 years of Registered Nursing experience in a NICU or similar critical care setting.
- 2 years of Clinical Leadership responsibility.
- Licensure: Alaska Registered Nurse License upon hire.
- Certifications:
- BLS - American Heart Association certification upon hire.
- Current certification in area of specialty (e.g., CCRN) upon hire.
Preferred Qualifications:
- CNS certification in area of specialty upon hire.
