Communications Specialist/Tech Writer

Overview

Illuminate is seeking a Communications Specialist/Tech Writer to support our customer.

Responsibilities

1. Independently execute technical writing activities supporting the Knowledge Management (KM) strategy, planning, execution, and reporting.
2. Take detailed notes and facilitate meetings as a key aspect of the role.
3. Write, re-write, and edit standing operating procedures (SOPs), technical documents, white papers, reports, and related publications to clearly communicate technical specifications and instructions to diverse audiences.
4. Acquire subject knowledge through stakeholder interviews, observing mission execution methods, and referring to technical specifications, blueprints, engineering illustrations, and trade journals.
5. Develop strong relationships with senior leaders to understand key business priorities.
6. Oversee the preparation of illustrative materials, including drawings, sketches, diagrams, and charts.
7. Conduct quality reviews of materials prior to publication and distribution.

Qualifications

• Requires a BA/BS and 18 years of experience, a Master's and 10 years of experience, or no degree with 24 years of experience.
• Requires a TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph.
• Senior-level expertise in Knowledge Management (KM) processes and strategies.
• Ability to work independently with strong oral and written communication skills to effectively convey technical information.
• Excellent interpersonal skills for acquiring subject knowledge via various methods.
• Demonstrated leadership in overseeing the preparation and quality review of illustrative materials.
