The Construction Codes Coordinating Board (CCCB) was established in March 2009 to review and update the District of Columbia's Construction Codes, ensuring safe and effective building practices for new and existing structures.
It is an uncompensated 13-member board appointed by the Mayor for three-year terms, with administrative support provided by the Department of Consumer and Regulatory Affairs.
The Board's purpose is to promote public health, safety, and welfare by developing comprehensive, current codes for building construction and maintenance.
Members must be Washington, DC residents and include public representatives such as a Mayoral Delegate, professionals from building industries (commercial, industrial, residential, multi-family), architects, mechanical and structural engineers, and private citizens.
It operates under DC Regulations, Mayoral Orders, and the Board's By-Laws, with procedures subject to modification as needed.
