As the Construction Design Project Manager in the flexible, entrepreneurial environment of our clients firm sales and marketing, project management, client satisfaction, and profitability of projects are placed in your hands.  About 10% of the job is civil/structural. A larger portion is the design of the buildings processes. Your experience working with, and knowledge of, other disciplines (MEP) is crucial to your success in this position.  Our client is looking for an energetic, proactive, self-motivated, and innovative individual that can demonstrate the successful delivery of small to large scale capital design and construction projects in biopharmaceutical, pharmaceutical, and / or other advanced technology markets.

Therefore, in addition to the basic qualifications listed, you must possess the skills required to successfully develop and execute project tasks and deliverables, be a collaborative team player, and have a strong drive to deliver to customers. You will manage the development and implementation of design deliverables through conceptual, preliminary, detailed, and construction package stages (e.g., reports, P&IDs, distribution plans, specifications, etc.). You will be responsible for directing and coordinating with internal and external architects and engineers, as well as client, construction manager, subcontractor, and vendor interfaces. Project sizes will vary and will consist of both existing building renovations / retrofits and new construction. We ask that you have the proven ability to handle multiple complex tasks and have business and personnel management skills including the ability to establish and manage priorities and to market services to clients.

 

Responsibilities

  • Generate detailed proposals in response to client RFPs including but not limited to Project Execution Plans (PEPs), Manpower Plan, Schedule, Fee Spreadsheet and Earned Value Tracking Tools
  • Proficiently and steadfastly manage project scope and scope changes
  • Proactively identifying project risk and manage / mitigate risk
  • Lead internal and external project team meetings and generate and issue project monthly reports
  • Manage overall project deliverables in accordance with the PEP, budget, schedule, and the Firms’ Quality Plan
  • Manage post construction documentation deliverables and tasks such as submittal reviews, RFIs, and field visits to verify construction is executed per the intent of the design
  • Direct weekly and day-to-day activities of project technical staff and administrative staff
  • Manage client relationships and be responsible for client satisfaction
  • Market services to clients and consistently maintain client contact
  • Travel as required for client development and project execution (15-25%)

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering or Master of Architecture Degree preferred
  • 5-10 years of successful PM experience required, much of this preferably in a design firm setting
  • PE registration or Architectural licensure in practicing states preferred
  • Proficiency with Excel, Project, PowerPoint, and PDF software required
  • Ability to assess project progress and predict performance for scope completion and budget adherence required
  • LEED AP preferred
  • Proficiency with traditional project controls tools and methods required
  • Understanding of or experience using AutoCAD and Revit required
  • Ability to lead a project and design effort from concept design through start-up required
  • Experience in pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or advanced technology projects strongly preferred, biopharma a huge plus
  • Ability to travel a moderate amount as required
  • International experience a plus
