Construction Inspectors perform on-site inspections of construction projects, ensuring compliance with building codes, drawings, and specifications. They conduct visual and field testing across disciplines such as structural steel, concrete, and masonry, documenting findings and preparing inspection reports.
Essential responsibilities include reading plans, verifying work quality, analyzing data, communicating with project teams, and maintaining safety standards. They may lead lower-level inspectors, assist in scope development, and coordinate pre-dispatch activities.
Requirements include a high school diploma, 2-4 years of inspection experience, a valid driver’s license, and certifications such as AWS CWI and ASNT Level II UT. Preferred certifications include ICC in structural steel categories and additional ASNT Level II testing certifications.
