Construction Manager – Spiritwood, North Dakota

This is an exempt level position.

Position Summary:

+ Owner’s Representative for the construction of a Soy Bean Crush Facility, Project Subway

Job Responsibilities:

Upcoming Project Subway

+ Be an Owner’s Rep on the project

+ Work is currently planned for 6 days per week

+ Expectation should be that this role is on site for project core hours, daily

+ Perform safety audits on a regular basis

+ Document safety audits in Sphera or by another means

+ Work with McGough (the Construction Management Firm hired to build the facility) when there safety & efficiency issues or concerns

+ Report back to the project PM bi-weekly on safety status of the project OR immediately upon the occurrence of and incident

+ Perform productivity audits daily, document & submit results to corporate datebase

+ Bi-weekly on productivity updates to leadership

+ Witness 3rd party QA/QC activities at the site

+ Review QA/GC reports for accuracy

+ Verify that construction activities are following the project specifications and good construction practices

+ Work with McGough when there are QA/QC issues or concerns

+ Confirm project progress reports by McGough

+ Verify accuracy of % complete on a spot basis

+ Consistent communication with project manager if there are major concerns or discrepancies

+ Participate in the inspection process of equipment when received with KFI (engineering firm)

+ Verify detailed results of equipment inspections

+ Document and report to PM the receipt of all equipment

Future Projects

+ Lead all aspects of the execution and coordination of the overall delivery of multiple and/or sophisticated projects

+ Implement current project management practices, processes and methodologies and propose more efficient methodologies when able, keeping projects on time and within scope and budget

+ Lead business/project review meetings, support clients during onsite visits, and manage client communications

+ Drive interdepartmental communications to maintain timelines and supervise budget requirements

+ Monitor against schedule baselines and perform ad-hoc analyses

+ Report schedule status and variances to management in a clear and concise manner

+ Troubleshoot the challenges and issues associated with development and implementation of complex plans and raise issues when needed

+ Discuss key details with Senior PM on a regular basis and present information on projects to internal and external partners

+ Participates in technology aspects of the business-sponsored RFIs/RFPs

+ Lead Schedule Review Meetings with all project participants to ensure accurate logic, prioritization, resource utilization, logistics and constraints are accurately represented within the plan and schedule

+ Lead the activities of internal operations and engineering groups to ensure proper planning, communications, and implementation of solutions

+ Communicate customer requirements to other cross functional teams and project partners to achieve project results

+ Perform critical path analysis for projects to calculate, identify and manage aspects of the deployment and mitigate risks

+ Develop and prepare conceptual estimates with minimal subcontractor assistance using limited preliminary design documents/information

+ Interact with clients, architects, engineers and Local Jurisdictions to understand and incorporate project objectives, schedules, permits, costs, etc

+ Collecting historical cost and schedule data to utilize in predicting future cost and time to execute projects (send to corporate at projection completion)

+ Review and evaluate cost estimates

+ Resolve and/or advance issues in a timely fashion

+ Ensure project documents are complete, current and stored appropriately

+ Perform any other related duties as the need arises or assigned

Job Requirements:

+ Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Engineering or Equivalent Field Experience

+ demonstrated ability in project management, construction or engineering

+ Ability to work with Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project software

+ Proficient in MS office applications (Excel, MS project, Power Point, word) and an understanding of data base principles

+ Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

+ Great teammate

+ Be able to interact with all project participants to gather scope, logistics, and constraints to be included within the plan and schedule

+ Maintain a positive demeanor and develop strong working relationships with all team members

+ Excellent process management, prioritization and problem solving skills

+ Excellent organization skills

+ Some Travel to project sites
