The Office of Catholic Education provides expertise, experience, and energy to lead and assist those who carry out the education ministries of the Diocese of Cleveland. We support over 40,000 students and their families to ensure each school delivers a strong, positive, vibrant Catholic education that fosters academic excellence and faith formation.

Lake Catholic High School, founded in 1970, is a coeducational comprehensive high school with a college preparatory emphasis. It is committed to educating young men and women of diverse backgrounds throughout Northeast Ohio. With approximately 500 students in grades nine through twelve, including international students from several countries, the school emphasizes spiritual growth in the Catholic faith as students learn, work, and serve.

As one of five schools owned and operated by the Diocese of Cleveland, Lake Catholic functions under a President/Principal model of administration. The Principal is the school's chief academic officer, supported by an Assistant Principal, Dean of Students, and other staff, including guidance, athletics, and faculty. The President oversees business operations, supported by the Director of Advancement, Chief Financial Officer, Director of Marketing, Director of Buildings & Grounds, and additional staff responsible for marketing, communications, maintenance, and development.

The Diocese of Cleveland and Lake Catholic High School invite applications for the role of Dean of Academics.

Essential Job Functions:

  1. Monitor grades and academic progress for all students, prescribing interventions as needed in collaboration with teachers, counselors, and families.
  2. Coordinate with intervention specialists and counselors to support students with diverse learning needs.
  3. Attend IEP, Service Plan, and Accommodation Plan meetings, ensuring compliance and best practices for student success.
  4. Facilitate support services for students, including accommodation plans and tutoring.
  5. Lead Academic Intervention Team (AIT) meetings with counselors to address student academic issues and create intervention plans for struggling students.
  6. Serve as testing coordinator, managing standardized assessments and ensuring smooth implementation.
  7. Analyze assessment data and facilitate review sessions with Instructional Leaders—Principal, Assistant Principal for Academics, and Department Chairs.
  8. Support the Principal and Assistant Principal in teacher observation and evaluation, providing constructive feedback for growth.
  9. Support development and coordination of instructional resources and professional development for faculty.
  10. Track summer school progress to ensure students stay on track for graduation and implement proactive support systems during the school year.
  11. Collaborate with the Principal and Assistant Principal to align efforts in student assessment, progress tracking, and teacher development.
  12. Assist the Athletic Director with student-athlete eligibility and academic success.
  13. Contribute to academic planning, including course offerings, scheduling, and staffing.

Qualifications:

  • Practicing Catholic with a strong understanding of the Catholic faith and commitment to Church teachings, with interest in educating students about the Catholic Church's history and practices.
  • Master’s degree in Administration, Education, or a related field.
  • Experience in teaching or school administration, focusing on academic programming and student support.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills to foster positive relationships with teachers, students, and families.
  • Experience collaborating with counselors or support staff to address academic challenges.
  • Knowledge of current best practices in curriculum development, instructional methods, and intervention strategies.
