We are seeking a Dental Provider (for infants, children, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics) or a consultant to join our team.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care at our home office and during village travel.
- Develop and promote dental health initiatives.
- Advise the Director and Senior Clinical Director of Dental Services on patient care matters.
- Ensure timely communication, reporting, clinical coding, and documentation.
- Stay updated on best practices and evidence-based dentistry through ongoing education.
- Perform duties assigned by the Director of Dental Services or other authorities.
- Supervise dental residents.
- Maintain credentialing requirements for Juneau & Sitka Dentists.
Additional Functions
- Communicate effectively with apprehensive or uncooperative patients, demonstrating patience and organization.
- Flexibility to work during lunch hours, after hours, and in emergencies.
- Participate in village field trips.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Supervisory duties are required.
Qualifications
- DDS or DMD degree from an accredited university.
- Active Dental Practice license in Alaska or another US state (Alaska preferred).
- BLS certification; ACLS required for sedation privileges.
Experience & Knowledge
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience or completion of Dental Residency.
- Knowledge of evidence-based dentistry and HIPAA regulations.
Skills & Abilities
- Diagnostic, treatment, and clinical skills.
- Ability to follow infection control guidelines and established protocols.
- Diagnose and treat dental problems with caution.
Travel
- Occasional travel to remote villages in Southeast Alaska via jet, ferry, or small aircraft.
Other Responsibilities
- Adhere to safety and risk management protocols, handling chemicals and pathogens carefully.
- Physical ability to sit for extended periods and dexterity with hands.
- Work environment can be emotionally and physically challenging.
