Filtran LLC, located in Des Plaines, Illinois, is a global leader in filtration solutions and a trusted name around the world for quality automatic transmission filters. We are a top tier 1 automotive supplier to both the Original Equipment and the Aftermarket with locations and customers located in North America, Europe and Asia.

 

We have an exciting opportunity in our North American Design Engineering Group for an experienced Design Engineer. We are looking for someone who is self-motivated, a technically sound engineer with experience modeling in Creo (ProEngineer). Plastic part design, filtration design and automotive design experience a definite plus. This person must be able to work independently with little supervision, communicate effectively through emails, Power Point presentations and conference calls with customers and suppliers, work together with cross functional teams and able to lead a program through the design phase.


Create models and drawings in Creo (ProEngineer).

Develop design solutions, meet customer milestones, develop DVP for testing.

Work within cross functional teams to bring a program to successful launch and production.

Work with CAE Department on CFRD and FEA analysis and Lab on testing.

Communicate effectively with customers during weekly project update conference calls.

Support Lean Manufacturing activities, as well as providing support to Filtran manufacturing locations as required.

Acquire a full understanding and knowledge of industry and product fundamentals by attending seminars, training, and collaborating with colleagues and customers.

Provide maintenance support to existing programs as assigned.

Minimum travel will be required to suppliers and customers.

 


B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent field of study.

2 years Design Engineering experience of plastic injection molded components preferred.

Tier 1 and 2 Automotive design experience preferred.

3D parametric modeling proficiency in Creo (ProEngineer).

Knowledge of design of plastic parts for manufacturability / moldability.

Knowledge and practice of the design requirements as specified in the QS9000 or ISO/TS 16949 procedures such as DFMEA’s, PFMEA, DVP&R, APQP, etc.

FEA and CFD analysis experience preferred.

Familiarity with the AIAG APQP process preferred.

Proficiency with MS Office applications.

Excellent written and verbal communications.
