Design Engineer II
New Hudson, MI - Can work Full Remote
6 Months


Remote acceptable for contract. New Hudson, MI required if converted to direct. Must meet education requirements listed to be considered for FTE conversion. Position not C-D but possible.

Please be sure candidate resume clearly portrays the following:

Will be doing CAD (CATIA) and Engineering, formulative physics calculations and FEA. Ansys, hyper mesh tools. Engineers to be performing all calculations and documentation in excel or matlab, present in Power Point.


OVERVIEW: Mid-level design engineer with core responsibilities including product and system design and development. The main focus will be mechanical system design using CAD and structural analysis (FEA), supported by systems modeling to substantiate the lower-level decisions. This position s responsibilities will span from initial concepts through detailed drawing execution while working within a project team under the review of a design team lead. System-level design responsibility is expected in this position.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & SKILLS:
Typical responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

" Vehicle and Product System Design & Development
o System physics modeling and characterization
o CAD system and component concept development and packaging
o Application of linear-static Finite Element Analysis in design optimization
o Technical drawing generation
o Prepare and present project status reports
o Test design, development, and reporting (DVP&R)

" Project Support
o Support and resolve customer problems using mechanical, analytical, CAE and project management skills
o Prepare technical specifications for use by Pratt & Miller Engineering
o Develop testing methods and procedures for use by Pratt & Miller Engineering
o Investigate alternative business opportunities
o Support manufacturing by answering questions and responding to ECRs
o Investigate alternative business opportunities
o Present results to and take direction from external customers


EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION/YEARS OF EXPERIENCE:
Minimum 3yrs engineering employment experience
BS in Mechanical, Aerospace, Automotive Engineering, or equivalent field
Experience in parametric 3D modeling and Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing
Strong technical writing, communication, team, and organizational skills
US Citizenship or Permanent Residency is required
Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint)


DESIRED SPECIALIZED SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
" BS in Mechanical, Aerospace, Automotive Engineering, or equivalent field

" US Citizenship or Permanent Residency is required

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Ability to support technicians and shop builds
o Operate simple hand tools, etc.


EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK:
8am-4pm core (minimum) work hours (typically 45hrs per week average)
Project surge support and additional effort as needed to achieve deadlines

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Work will typically be performed in a team-based office environment. Some travel may be required for customer and supplier meetings, off-site training, off-site testing, and attendance at industry conferences.

This position will require lawful access to ITAR/EAR controlled information and employees in this role will need to meet those requirements. Requirements include US Citizenship, US Permanent Resident or ability to meet licensure requirements.
