Job Summary


The Diet Technician supports the Dietitian in providing nutritional care and food services to residents, patients, and staff. This role ensures compliance with facility policies and regulatory standards while contributing to a positive dining experience and effective nutrition programs.


Essential Functions


+ Assists the Dietitian in implementing nutritional care plans, ensuring compliance with facility and regulatory standards.

+ Supports the provision of quality food services, promoting an enjoyable dining experience for residents, guests, and staff.

+ Collaborates with interdepartmental teams to integrate nutritional care into overall facility operations.

+ Aids in maintaining compliance with state, federal, and accreditation standards, including Joint Commission, through documentation and adherence to policies.

+ Provides nutrition information and education to individuals as designated by the Dietitian.

+ Assists in evaluating and improving dining service operations to enhance resident satisfaction and meet nutritional objectives.

+ Develops and maintains positive relationships with residents, families, and staff to foster a supportive and caring environment.

+ Supports the Dietitian in conducting audits, preparing reports, and implementing performance improvement initiatives.

+ Ensures accurate documentation of nutrition care activities and maintains records in compliance with regulatory guidelines.

+ Performs other duties as assigned.

+ Complies with all policies and standards.


Qualifications


+ 0-2 years of experience in nutrition care or food service operations required


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities


+ Knowledge of nutrition care principles and regulatory compliance requirements.

+ Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with residents, families, and staff.

+ Organizational and time management skills to handle multiple tasks efficiently.

+ Proficiency in using technology, including dietary software and electronic medical records (EMR).

+ Ability to work collaboratively within a team to achieve nutritional and operational goals.

+ Commitment to providing compassionate and patient-centered care.


Licenses and Certifications


+ DTR - Dietetic Technician, Registered preferred

+ BCLS - Basic Life Support preferred


State Specific Requirements


+ Arizona: Nutrition and Dietetics Technician, Registered (NDTR) credential through the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) required.
