LOCATION: Work location is flexible if approved by the Organization, except that this position may not be performed remotely from Alaska, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, or Rhode Island


SUMMARY:Firearms Policy Coalition (FPC) — a fast-growing leader in the Second Amendment and adjacent issue advocacy space — is looking for an experienced, energetic, and high-impact leader with aligned values to own and improve upon our Organization’s branding, messaging, social media, engagement, and advertising/analytics as its Digital Director, who will have primary responsibility for the Organization’s digital and social communications teams and operations. Successful candidates will embrace extreme ownership principles, be aggressive, and do what it takes to win. An ideal candidate has:


  • Alignment with FPC’s values, purpose, vision, mission, and culture
  • Excellent writing/communication, organization, leadership, and management skills
  • A desire to positively integrate into an existing team and culture
  • Experience successfully creating and winning across PESO marketing/communications and media types (paid, earned, shared, owned)
  • A Rolodex of aligned creators, vendors, and potential recruits
  • An understanding of and support for the philosophy of natural rights (and ideally the non-aggression principle, at least conceptually)
  • Read some works of Cicero, Seneca, John Locke, St. Thomas Aquinas, George Mason, Bastiat, Ludwig von Mises, and/or Murray Rothbard
  • Read the Anti-Federalist Papers and the Federalist Papers and understand why the "Anti-Federalists" weren't, and why time shows how they were correct
  • At least a basic understanding of modern firearms issues, including legal (gun control) and social
  • A desire to create real world impact and help people exercise their rights
  • An excellent sense of humor and connection to our culture
  • A visceral hatred of mistakes, misses, and lost opportunities

PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: This job description isn’t an all-inclusive list of duties and standards of the position, and the person we're looking for has been in the industry for a while. You know that we all wear many hats and have to keep day-to-day working going well while handling emergent issues and emergencies. In fact, if you didn’t love that, you probably wouldn’t be applying for this job.


  • Have sound vision, lead with confidence, execute with strength, and deliver value to FPC’s members, supporters, and the public
  • Take an active role in advancing individual liberty and freedom, and promoting the Organization’s purpose, mission, objectives, and value proposition
  • Collaboratively develop the Communications objectives and key results
  • Have primary responsibility for the Organization’s communications teams, creatives, and operations (e.g., graphic design/video, copywriting, social media, email, advertising, fulfillment/service), leading and managing multiple direct reports and vendors
  • Execute high-impact, on-message communications marketing/advertising programs
  • Have tenacity, fortitude, and the commitment to do whatever it takes to get the job done and win
  • Collaborate with the Organization’s senior leadership to develop strategies that will broaden reach, deepen impact, and support the Organization’s mission
  • Use discretion, independent judgment, specialized experience, and creativity to develop and execute strategic and tactical “quick-response” social media and marketing communications within a fast-moving and dynamic issue area
  • Develop an intimate and detailed understanding of the Organization’s values, teams, operations, deliverables, and strategies to maintain messaging alignment
  • Find ways to grow the Organization so that we can work harder for the People, achieve the mission, and create maximal human liberty
  • Develop, lead, manage, and oversee vendors, external content creators, sponsorships, and partnerships/influencers
  • Oversee deployment of communications for multiple divisions (e.g., advocacy, legal, development)
  • Support other divisions with creative/copywriting and content/deliverable production
  • Establish, maintain, and enforce the Organization’s communications brand and quality control standards, operating procedures, and policies, coordinating with other teams within the Organization to ensure the products are up to date and on message
  • Oversee and participate in the development and deployment of content including but not limited to written articles and stories, images, videos, and podcasts to tell powerful stories and engage with FPC’s members and supporters on social media platforms to promote FPC’s values, policy positions, and principles
  • Use analytics and data to identify trends, areas for improvement, and independently make adjustments to actively increase engagement and audience growth on an ongoing basis
  • Track data and present reports on communications, including content and social media metrics, to show progress, wins, and losses
  • Manage the Organization’s presence at industry events, trade shows, and conferences
  • Never compromise the Organization’s values, mission, and brand
  • Perform other duties or special projects as assigned




  • Must be authorized to work in the United States
  • Must be trustworthy and have high character
  • Must be able to legally acquire and possess firearms (including handguns)
  • Must have at least 5 years of experience in all aspects of high quality creative, communications, and marketing/advertising for a high-visibility organization(s) or public figure(s)
  • Must have at least 5 years of experience in, and a track record of, self-leadership, team leadership, and success without handholding
  • Must have a proven ability to analyze news and events, visualize trends, adapt to changes, and prioritize effectively
  • Must be able to effectively and efficiently use computers, software, and Internet based platforms
  • Must be able to use tools and software to create various content types 
  • Must have experience effectively using content management systems, social media platforms, deployment software, advertising platforms, analytics, and related technologies
  • Must be resourceful and have the ability to solve problems quickly
  • Must have excellent technical, writing, verbal, and interpersonal skills
  • Must be detail-oriented and take comprehensive notes
  • Must learn quickly and do what it takes to get the job done
  • Must know when to push harder and when to hold or pull back
  • Must have an attitude that fits our culture
  • Must be willing to work hard and fight harder
