PRIMARYPURPOSE

 

Responsible for the overall development, direction and management of Parkland’s Clinical Education and Academic Programs department to include classroom and e-learning. Provides the infrastructure for ongoing competency assessment and validation for clinical staff and innovative learning methodologies for all staff.

 

MINIMUM SPECIFICATIONS

 

Education:

- Must have a Master’s degree in Nursing

- Prefer Doctor of Nursing Practice or PhD in Nursing.

 

Experience:

 - Must have ten years of experience in nursing education and at least four years of progressive nursing leadership

 

Certification/Registration/Licensure:

- Must have current RN license or valid temporary permit with the Texas Board of Nursing; or, valid Compact RN license.

- Must have Federal Emergency Management Administration (FEMA) course certification for IS-700.A: National Incident Management System (NIMS) An Introduction by November 1, 2014 or obtain within 30 days of placement in role whichever date is greater.

- Must have Federal Emergency Management Administration (FEMA) course certification for IS-100.HCB: Introduction to the Incident Command System (ICS 100) for Healthcare/Hospitals by November 1, 2014 or obtain within 30 days of placement in role whichever date is greater.

- Must have Federal Emergency Management Administration (FEMA) course certification for IS-200.HCA: Applying ICS to Healthcare Organizations (ICS 200) by November 1, 2014 or obtain within 30 days of placement in role whichever date is greater.

 

Skills or Special Abilities:

- Maintains standards of professional conduct and performs all assigned and unassigned duties in accordance with the current State of Texas Nursing Practice Act.

- Must be able to communicate effectively with professional nursing staff, physicians, hospital staff and management, both orally and in writing.

- Must demonstrate advanced knowledge of education and practice, including effective teaching skills.

- Must have detail orientation, creative, and organizational skills.

-Must have skill in budget and personnel management.

- Must be able to demonstrate planning ability and good interpersonal skills, including required diplomacy and negotiation skills.

 - Must be proficient with word processing, spread sheet and data base management software.

- Must demonstrate patient centered/patient valued behaviors.

- Must demonstrate knowledge of approaches, tools and techniques for working with individuals and groups in a constructive and collaborative manner to include gaining the cooperation and support of others and effectiveness of learning intervention.

- Must demonstrate familiarity with the concepts and practices of adult learning and its application to the workplace.

- Must demonstrate familiarity with the full spectrum of methods and alternatives for delivering learning solutions.

- Maintains standards of professional conduct and performs all assigned and unassigned duties in accordance with the current State of Texas Nursing Practice Act.
