The Mehrotra Institute seeks a Director of Administration to serve as the Institutes operational lead and administrative execution engine. Reporting to the Executive Director, this role runs the Institutes internal operating system: institute facilities and operations, contract and vendor management, milestone tracking, budgeting support, and cross-functional project management. The Director ensures that priorities across Education, Discourse, Research, and Products are delivered on time, on budget, and at a consistently high quality. The ideal candidate is a builder-operator who can translate strategy into execution, create simple systems that scale, and deliver high-quality programs with consistent follow-through. They are service-oriented and collaborative, but also skilled at prioritization, boundary-setting, and designing workflows that prevent operational chaos. The Mehrotra Institute is a newly launched and quickly growing institute. The Director will build foundational operational infrastructure from the ground up, creating repeatable processes, setting up tools and templates, and operating effectively amid ambiguity and evolving priorities. This is a highly collaborative role that partners closely with the Faculty Director, Director of Research, Director of Products and Strategic Initiatives, and Director of Community Engagement, and works regularly with students, faculty, and external vendors.

Required Skills

Bachelors degree required. 7+ years of relevant experience in operations, program management, higher education administration, or a comparable complex stakeholder environment. Demonstrated experience running cross-functional project plans, managing multiple workstreams, and delivering programs on deadline. Excellent written and verbal communication skills; comfort interacting with senior leaders, faculty, students, and external partners. High proficiency with operational tools (spreadsheets, project trackers, CRM and event registration systems). Comfort thriving in ambiguity; demonstrated ability to build structure where none exists and iterate quickly. Experience managing complex projects that include cross-functional teams and resources. Ability to work independently in an entrepreneurial environment. Proven operator mindset: bias to action, strong judgment, and ability to move work forward with imperfect information. Occasional evening/weekend work may be required for events and time-sensitive program deliverables. Hybrid work may be possible in accordance with BU/Questrom policies and operational needs.
