Position Title:    Classroom Driver Education Instructor

Classification:     Limited Term/Part-time

Program:               Drivers Education

Rate of Pay:          $25.00 per hour

 

This position is to start ASAP.

 

Position Summary:

Conduct driver education classroom instruction for high school students using approved syllabus and curriculum.

 

General Requirements for Employment:

Any instructor teaching in an ODOT-TSD approved program must hold a current certification card from ODOT/WOU.

Applicants must be residents in the state of Oregon and have had an Oregon State Driver License for at least five years with a clean driving record.

Must be reliable and enjoy working with teens and parents.

Must have access to a cell phone, be 21-years of age, and current CPR/First Aid certification.

 

Duties (including, but not limited to):

Cover class content from approved syllabus and curriculum. 

Provide sufficient exposure to the material so that students will satisfactorily master application skills.

Implement class activities that promote maximum learning.

Record-keeping—completes all reports are requested including attendance sheets, curriculum and evaluation forms with care to detail.

Communicate with and respond to Driver Education Coordinator in a timely manner.

 

Qualifications:

Successful completion of the Oregon Driver Education Instructor Training – Foundation, Classroom and Behind-the-Wheel required (from WOU).  Classroom experience a plus.

Regular attendance and punctuality is necessary.

Valid Oregon driver license.

Good driving record.

Good computer skills.

 

 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Ability to work independently and be self-directed.  Schedule will include evening hours.

Ability to maintain a positive attitude under stressful situations.

Ability to pass a criminal background check.

Knowledge and understanding of current Oregon traffic laws.

Good computer skills.

 

 

In addition to salary, the district pays the employee's 6% PERS contribution. 

Applicant agrees to assume cost and arrange for FINGERPRINT-BASED CRIMINAL RECORDS CHECK upon offer of employment.  ($10-$20 at printing; $59 payroll deduction)

All district employees will be required to provide proof of vaccination, or documentation of a medical or non-medical exception using the Oregon Health Authorities form by October 18, 2021.
