Electrician – MV/HV (Power Generation & Distribution)

Position Summary
The MV/HV Electrician is responsible for the operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of medium and high voltage electrical distribution systems supporting power generation facilities (5–85MW+). This role operates in an OCONUS environment (Jordan) supporting operations and includes hands-on work across power plants, substations, switchgear, and distribution networks. The position requires strong technical expertise in MV/HV systems, diesel power generation, and electrical safety, along with the ability to operate in high-tempo, mission-critical environments with up to 72-hour workweeks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform inspection, preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of MV/HV electrical distribution systems (4.16kV, 11kV, 13kV)
  • Maintain and repair power generation systems including diesel-driven generators (5–85MW+) and associated electrical/mechanical components
  • Operate and maintain switchgear, substations, transformers, circuit breakers, and SCADA/PLC-controlled systems
  • Execute installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical infrastructure including cables, conduit, ductwork, and underground distribution networks
  • Diagnose system faults using advanced testing equipment (multimeters, meggers, power analyzers, relay testers, HiPot, etc.) and implement corrective actions
  • Support generator synchronization, paralleling, startup/shutdown, and ongoing operational monitoring
  • Perform rigging and maintenance on high voltage motors, transformers, and compressors
  • Ensure adherence to safety standards (OSHA, NFPA 70E, NEC) including Lockout/Tagout procedures and PPE usage
  • Respond to emergency outages and equipment failures, restoring system functionality rapidly
  • Maintain technical documentation, logs, and reporting requirements
  • Lead or support electrical teams, ensuring compliance, safety, and quality standards
  • Train and mentor junior personnel and ensure adherence to manufacturer and operational guidelines
  • Coordinate with supervisors, contractors, and military stakeholders on operational risks and maintenance planning
  • Support procurement efforts by identifying parts, components, and technical requirements
  • Maintain work areas, tools, and equipment in operational condition
  • Participate in daily safety meetings, EHS training, and compliance programs

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years as a licensed electrician with MV/HV electrical experience (IEEE or equivalent credentials preferred)
  • High school diploma or GED plus technical training
  • Proven experience with diesel power generation systems (5–85MW+) and MV distribution networks
  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems including generators, transformers, substations, switchgear, PLC/SCADA systems, and protection relays
  • Experience with electrical testing equipment and diagnostic tools
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, drawings, and specifications
  • Knowledge of OSHA, NFPA 70E, and industrial safety standards
  • Experience with Lockout/Tagout procedures and electrical hazard mitigation
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Ability to work in physically demanding environments (lifting, climbing, outdoor conditions, extreme temperatures)
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving ability using deductive reasoning
  • Valid driver’s license and passport (minimum 12 months validity)
  • Ability to obtain and maintain security clearance and access to U.S. military installations
  • Medically qualified for OCONUS deployment and compliant with host nation entry requirements

  • Must be eligible for CAC access and U.S. military installation entry
  • Security clearance required or ability to obtain

Compensation & Benefits

  • $115,000 - $124,000 Total Compensation
