About Symbotic

Symbotic uses an AI-driven robotic platform to transform how consumer products travel through the supply chain. Our intelligent software choreographs fleets of advanced robots in a dense, end-to-end warehouse automation system built for speed, flexibility, and efficiency.

The Role

Picture your day: you kick off with yield dashboards from our Contract Manufacturers, then head to the lab to bring up a new interface board you designed for a production test fixture. An hour later, you’re deep into a board-level debug session with an oscilloscope and logic analyzer, hunting down a signal integrity issue. By afternoon, you’re refining Python-based automation for instrument control and data logging, and closing the day by mentoring a junior engineer on best-practice debugging and DFT principles. You own the electrical test architecture that keeps our robotic and electromechanical products flowing from concept to production.

What your day may include

  • Designing electrical schematics, PCBAs, and interface boards for scalable manufacturing test fixtures and validation equipment.
  • Driving end-to-end hardware bring-up: component selection, schematic/layout reviews, soldering/rework, and board/system debug.
  • Architecting robust test systems: power distribution, relays, multiplexing, signal conditioning, DAQ, and precision measurement instrumentation.
  • Building automated test software (Python preferred) for instrument control, execution, data collection, diagnostics, and results traceability.
  • Executing advanced electrical debug with oscilloscopes, DMMs, power and protocol analyzers to isolate PCBA and system failures.
  • Leading deployments and production support across internal sites and CMs: troubleshooting, yield lifts, and failure analysis.
  • Mining production and field data to elevate reliability, expand test coverage, and streamline manufacturing throughput.
  • Defining NPI test strategies, validation plans, and manufacturing test requirements from concept through ramp.
  • Collaborating with Electrical, Firmware, Software, Mechanical, Manufacturing, and Operations to resolve complex issues.
  • Owning project plans, deliverables, and readiness criteria for fixture and system rollouts.
  • Mentoring junior engineers/technicians and establishing rigorous debug and engineering best practices.
  • Driving continuous improvement in test architecture, fixture robustness, automation depth, and operational efficiency.

What equips you for success

  • BS in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent) and 8+ years in hardware design, manufacturing test engineering, or system validation.
  • Hands-on mastery of schematic capture and PCBA development (Altium or similar).
  • Deep experience in bring-up, soldering/rework, and component-level debug.
  • Thorough grasp of analog/digital circuits, power electronics, SI, grounding, EMI/noise, and protection design.
  • Proficient with oscilloscopes, DMMs, programmable supplies, electronic loads, logic analyzers, and DAQ systems.
  • Proven design/build of manufacturing fixtures using relays, multiplexers, interface boards, and automated measurements.
  • Fluent in Python or a comparable scripting language for test automation and diagnostics.
  • Track record supporting manufacturing and working directly with CMs.
  • Comfort with CAN, UART, SPI, I2C, Ethernet and related protocol debug tools.
  • Familiarity with data logging, databases, analytics of test results, and failure trend analysis.
  • Experience with embedded systems, sensors, motors, or electromechanical products.
  • Ability to lead technical projects, drive schedules, and mentor teammates; excellent communication and organization.

Preferred extras

  • Background in robotics, industrial automation, or high-volume manufacturing.
  • SCPI-based instrument control and automated validation frameworks.
  • Production diagnostics, reliability testing, and thorough root-cause methodologies.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes, fixture ergonomics, and DFT.

Travel and work environment

  • Up to 20% travel may be required. Employees must have a valid driver’s license and the ability to drive and/or fly to client and other customer locations.

Core proficiencies

  • Electrical Schematics
  • PCB Assembly (Printed Circuit Board Assembly)
