  • Performs basic product design, testing and/or analysis work for a defined portion of a project.
  • Operates in a team environment, providing input to design solutions and participating in design reviews.
  • Develops recommendations within established guidelines; work and decisions are reviewed by supervisors before implementation.

  • Produces and/or evaluates possible design solutions to improve cost, quality and performance based on specialized knowledge of engineering applications.
  • This may include possible involvement of other functional engineers, supply management and/or supplier personnel.
  • Analyzes assignments and determines engineering specifications which must be fulfilled for routine problems or projects.
  • Compiles and furnishes necessary information (engineering decisions and reports of pertinent design analyses data) to document the design solution required for building of prototypes and adoption of the design with possible involvement of other functional engineers, supply management and/or supplier personnel.
  • Learns and applies company engineering policies and practices; learns company products.
  • Executes test or analysis plan for product verification and validation.
  • Lead development and execution of test activities for vehicle and hydraulic lab requests, working to verify application requirements, performance goals, and vehicle design specifications.
  • Utilize the electronic documentation system to process activities for test execution, including updating details (schedule, acceptance criteria, procedures, results, conclusions) and closure of activities and communication to stakeholders on key dates and resource availability.
  • Coordinate tractor, component, and test cell resources, clarify acceptance criteria and test requirements, conduct planning meetings, organize test requests, write shop orders, and provide wage employee work direction and technical support across up to three shifts.
  • Hold regular data review meetings with stakeholders during test execution.
  • Determine test needs and if results meet or fail acceptance criteria, issuing reports and corrective action requests when criteria are not met.
  • Utilize test activity scheduling tool for understanding test cell resource availability
  • Post process test data to analyze and summarize results into reports for review and inclusion in electronic documentation system, utilizing tools and templates standard within the team, including Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Power Point, nCode GlyphWorks, and National Instruments DIAdem.
  • Participation in regular team meetings to review schedule, testing issues, department information updates, and staff updates.
 
Qualifications:
  • A Bachelor of Science degree in Agricultural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related field is required (or equivalent experience)
  • Basic understanding of agricultural tractors, including chassis, operator station, drivetrain, hydraulics, and engines
  • Basic understanding of tractor operations
  • Basic understanding of instrumentation, including strain gages, load cells, thermocouples, pressure transducers, flow meters, data acquisition systems, and data collection best practices
  • Excellent writing and oral communication skills to define testing needs and requirements
  • Data analysis of simple to complex tests
  • Ability to effectively collaborate and work with cross function teams, including wage employees and teams around the world
 
Desired Skills, Knowledge & Relevant Work Experience:
  • 2+ years of product engineering experience.
  • Good negotiation skills.
  • A desire to improve test processes and data analysis techniques.
  • Technical expertise in hydraulic, cooling, or engine systems.
