Environmental Health and Safety Manager

Objective

Work to create and enforce a culture of safety and implement programs, policies and assessments to ensure compliance with all federal and internal health and safety regulations.

Essential Duties / Responsibilities:

  • Assists, plans, and implements safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal rules and regulations including Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA), Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) and Department of Transportation (DOT)
  • Provides safety training for employees on policies, regulations and procedures
  • Advise Senior Management and Administrative Teams on safety issues and compliance specific projects and operations
  • Conducts regular site inspections
  • Maintains accurate and current records in accordance with state and federal guidelines
  • Facilitate periodic safety meetings at project sites
  • Conducts post-accident investigations and prepares reports identifying possible accident causes
  • Develop action steps to correct deficiencies
  • Suggest solutions, improvements, and prevention steps for safety issues
  • Works with Human Resources on workers' compensation claims in the event of a workplace accident
  • Effectively communicate with T.E. Stevens's Project Managers, Operations Manager and General Superintendents regarding specific project site safety issues.
  • Represent T.E. Stevens in a professional manner in appearance, attitude, and work habits

Education / Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Health and Safety or related field
  • 3+ Years of Experience in Safety
  • 3+ Years of Experience in a Construction Environment

Certifications:

  • OSHA 30, First Aid, and CPR Required
  • OSHA 500, Certified Safety Professional (CSP) and Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST) preferred

Knowledge / Skills Required:

  • Excellent leadership skills: Clear communication of objectives, providing feedback, and suggesting improvements for individual performance, coaching
  • Exceptional organizational, management, planning, and problem-solving skills
  • Experience analyzing company needs, lesson planning, development and implementation
  • Ability to prepare comprehensive written reports and correspondences, represent ideas clearly and concisely and make presentations
  • The ability to make effective decisions under pressure
  • Experience in strategic planning and execution
  • Experience in formulating policy and developing and implementing new strategies and procedures
  • Needs to have integrity and be honest in all dealings
  • Ability to research information and analyze data to arrive at valid conclusions, recommendations, and plans of action
  • Ability to meet or exceed the company's attendance and punctuality standards
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to motivate teams and simultaneously manage several projects
  • Reliable responsible, and dependable and fulfilling obligations
