The Social Work Department at Azusa Pacific University seeks to prepare students for professional social work practice as demonstrated by competence in skill performance with diverse populations in a variety of settings. As a mid-sized thriving department, emphasis is on engagement with highly diverse students that integrates high expectations with high support for academic success. Training focuses on a holistic approach to professional development with a goal to prepare effective generalist and advanced social work practitioners and dynamic leaders both locally and globally. Ethical integration of faith in practice, teaching, and scholarship is emphasized.

MSW Program options include full-time, part-time, and advanced standing models. Teaching may include generalist foundation and/or specialization level courses. Specialized practice options include Clinical Practice with Individuals and Families specialization prepares students for a range of clinically oriented practice settings. The Community Leadership and Program Administration specialization prepares students for macro practice in local, national, and international contexts.

Announcing a full-time faculty appointment with primary assignment to the Master of Social Work Program, Inland Empire Campus, carrying instructional and scholarship responsibilities. As our student body is reflective of the diversity of Southern California, the Department seeks torecruit faculty from diverse backgrounds who are committed to excellence, a collaborative environment, and social justice. Experience in higher education and two years social work practice preferred.


Full-time faculty position in a thriving, urban, CSWE accredited Master of Social Work program. The Department of Social Work seeks candidates with experience in generalist social work practice who can teach across the curriculum. Experience in higher education and scholarship preferred.


Generalist social work practice, theory, and research.


  • Teach assigned courses based on teaching load.
  • Assist in student advising and mentoring, program assessment and student admissions.
  • Participate in department and program meetings and functions, strategic planning, special programs, and campus committees as needed.
  • Participation in the life of the department as well as the university is required.
  • Contribute to development and dissemination of scholarship and expertise.
  • Work at alternative Campuses or Sites as indicated for role.

Level: Faculty Appointment, rank based on education and experience.


  • PhD or related doctorate required and a Master of Social Work degree from an accredited social work program.
  • Minimum of two years professional practice experience.
  • Demonstrated excellence in teaching.
  • Demonstrated potential for scholarship.

Candidates must be able to communicate their personal Christian faith and how they ethically integrate faith in social work scholarship and practice. Proficient computer skills required


University teaching experience, interprofessional collaboration, and community-based skills strongly preferred. An ability to teach across the curriculum, with specialization in area of generalist social work practice is desired. Demonstrated scholarship and research potential preferred.

Workload: Full-time faculty position.
