JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

The Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) Retirement Training serves as the Agency's strategic workforce development and training solution provider. The FERS Instructor will provide retirement training for DLA employees working under both the Civil Service Retirement System (CSRS) and the Federal Employee Retirement System (FERS). In addition, individual will provide retirement training support to other DoD customers outside of DLA. The four training courses includes:

Pre-Retirement CSRS Training ' 2-day course for retirement-eligible employees under the CSRS program with the following course objectives: Focus on employees within five years of retirement; In-depth look at the federal benefits in retirement and when benefits are payable; Provide explanation of all major federal retirement benefits programs; Explanation of Deposits and Re-Deposits; Explanation of Thrift Savings Plan; Explanation of Federal Employees Health Benefits program(FEHB); Explanation of Federal Employees' Group Life Insurance program(FEGLI); Explanation of Survivor Benefits; Explanation of Long-Term Care Insurance Program; In-depth financial planning; Explanation of Social Security Benefits; Explanation of legal issues and taxes

Mid-Career Retirement FERS Training ' 2-day course for Mid-Career Level employees under the FERS program who have at least five years of federal service with the following course objectives: Focus on employees within fifteen to five years of retirement; Major focus on financial planning (1-day); Explanation of Retirement, Survivor, and Disability Retirement benefits; Explain Deposits and Re-Deposits; Explanation of Survivor Benefits; Explanation of Thrift Savings Plan (TSP); Explanation of FEHB; Explanation of FEGLI; Explanation of Flex Spending Accounts; Explanation of Dental and Vision Plans; Explanation of Long-Term Care Insurance; Overview of Legal and Tax Issues

Firefighter Pre-Retirement Training ' 3-day course designed for employees who fall under the Special Category of Fire & Emergency Services (GS-0081) with the following course objectives: Defining 'Special Category'; Defining 'Covered Position'; Transfer requirements (Primary/Rigorous to Secondary/Non-rigorous); Defining FERS, FERS Changeover, and Retirement Components; Retirement Eligibility/Creditable Service; Thrift Savings Plan (TSP); Federal Employee Group Life Insurance; Additional Income Components

Individual will deliver training both virtually and in-person. The virtual training will be delivered through the Adobe Connect platform with a maximum class size of 30 employees. In-Person training will have a maximum class size of 50 employees. In addition to typical classroom environments, occasionally courses may be required to be broadcasted from a Government-owned studio to students.

Instructor will also be responsible for the following:

  • Reviewing and making updates to the existing course materials as needed
  • Coordinating all updates to the course material through the DLA Training office
  • Distributing electronic materials to all students and facilitators/admin for classes being delivered virtually.
  • Developing, distributing, and collecting a course evaluation for each course.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be able to obtain a Public Trust Clearance
  • Bachelor's degree or higher preferred
  • Two (2) or more years of experience providing retirement seminars
  • Minimum of five (5) years of Federal HR Benefits training experience
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in teaching the OPM CSRS/FERS Special Category (GS-0081) Retirement training
  • Must be able to travel if needed (CONUS/OCONUS)
  • Experience teaching a Firefighter Retirement course desired.
