The Field Construction Manager oversees on-site construction activities to ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, and within budget. This role coordinates daily operations, manages subcontractors and field personnel, and ensures compliance with plans, specifications, and company standards. The Field Construction Manager proactively identifies issues, facilitates solutions, and maintains clear communication with project managers, engineers, and clients. Strong leadership, organization, and problem-solving skills are essential to maintaining efficient jobsite operations and delivering high-quality project results.
Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities:
- Road warrior during asphalt construction season.
- Conducts site surveys to identify problem areas for scope creation.
- Checks type and condition of drainage.
- Conducts material and soil testing as needed.
- Submits completed surveys to Project Manager and uploads report and photos into the PaveIT system.
- Travels to job sites and monitors work from start to finish to ensure that each phase of work is completed properly in order to eliminate future punch list items (first to arrive and last to leave each day).
- As on site quality control manager, documents the adherence to specifications and requirements.
- Ensures that all safety procedures are followed per KAI safety policy.
- Keeps excellent records of all job activities and uploads reports and photos to the PaveIT system daily.
- Communicates with assigned project manager on a daily basis.
- Builds rapport with all parties on the job (client, subcontractor, and other professionals).
- Conducts pre-construction meetings with all stakeholders.
- Meets with customer’s appointed representative each morning to go over the day’s schedule and discuss any operations that may require cooperation during the business day.
Qualifications (Experience, Education & Certifications, Key Attributes):

- At least a Bachelor’s Degree in engineering, construction management, or business
- Hands on pavement construction knowledge preferred
- Technically savvy. iPhone, Android, Tablet, Copy Machine, Printer, Phone System Operation,with strong aptitude for learning new software applications.
