COMPANY DESCRIPTION

Our client is a medium sized boutique company in Ireland specializing in Project, Cost and Consultancy services. They now have a requirement for an experienced and highly motivated Finance Manager/Financial Controller. As part of their finance team, the role requires a strong, initiative led, qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA) as an essential business reporting partner to take responsibility for delivery of accurate financial information in relation to all activity within business. The successful candidate will have exposure to all aspects of the business including monthly management reporting, forecasting, cashflow management & HR.

 

The role is an incredibly exciting role, giving the successful applicant full autonomy to continue to grow and develop the existing finance function in place. This role is seen an essential component of the finance team and business, reporting directly to the Managing Director.

 

The successful candidate will lead Finance functions and work closely with our Directors & teams during a period of strong growth for the company.

POSITION DESCRIPTION

Key responsibilities:

·         Understanding and reporting on the performance of the business monthly, quarterly and annually across multiple business units, based on the financial information collated

·         Delivery of reporting on construction P&L and Balance Sheet movements for monthly management accounts, by business unit

·         Delivery of reporting on Site Costs and Overheads for the monthly management accounts, by business unit

·         Responsibility for maintaining and reconciling balance sheet and general ledger accounts as part of a robust month-end process

·         Preparing Revenue compliance returns (VAT, PAYE, RCT etc.)

·         Acting as a finance business partner to the Directors & various other teams within the business (

·         Managing the year-end audit process

·         Continuous improvement in all aspects of the finance function including processes and systems

·         Manage and team of two (Financial Controller & Accounts Assistant)

Tasks include:

·         Preparation of monthly reporting pack (revenues, profitability, overheads, balance sheet and cashflow) for the management team, including Directors, at a company-wide and business unit level

·         Preparing monthly/quarterly fee income forecasts based on input from business unit Directors at a company-wide and business unit level, for presentation for the management team, including Directors

·         Reviewing budget to actual income, spend and project cashflows on a monthly basis and preparing commentary on any variances

·         Managing the working capital position and maintaining adequate levels of funds to allow the construction business to operate effectively

·         Management and analysis quarterly of Work in Progress and project costs for all current projects. This involves working closely with our Business Unit teams

·         Reviewing and approving monthly creditor runs

·         Reviewing and approving monthly payroll

·         Reviewing budget to actual income, spend and project cashflows on a regular basis and preparing commentary on any variances

·         Preparation of audit files for the annual audit and working with the auditors to ensure all queries are answered satisfactorily

·         Preparation of internal analytics for the Directors on the performance of all business units each year

·         Provide guidance and training to staff on finance procedures including cash, purchasing, debt collection etc. to ensure strict adherence to financial controls.

·         Liaise with the Directors to achieve strong Corporate Governance and Risk Management within the organisation

·         The provision of other ad-hoc financial information and reporting as required for the business

NUMBER OF YEARS PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

The candidates should have the following abilities and experience:

·         Qualified ACA/ACCA accountant

·         Min 5 years PQE in a relevant finance role

·         Experience in construction/engineering industry

·         Experience in managing a team and liaise with stakeholders of the business essential

·         Experience of Xero Accounting system favourable but not essential

·         Attention to detail

·         Highly organised with ability to plan and prioritise workloads effectively for maximum impact and adapt around changing priorities as required

·         A self-starter, able to work collaboratively as a key member of our finance team
