Grants Specialist
Join our Finance team with the Director to ensure the financial accuracy and compliance of grant-funded programs and contracts.
As Grants Specialist will support the grant accounting operations, manage funder invoicing and financial reporting, and serve as a key liaison to internal teams and external funders.
This is a great opportunity for a mission-driven accounting professional with nonprofit experience and a passion for using financial expertise to support community impact.
Grant Financial Management
- Prepare and submit timely and accurate financial reports and invoices to public and private funders.
- Reconcile grant-related expenses and oversee labor allocations.
- Enter and manage grant awards, budgets, and financial data in systems of record such as Salesforce
- Run and distribute regular grant status and reconciliation reports.
Compliance & Internal Controls
- Ensure ongoing compliance with federal grant regulations, including Uniform Guidance.
- Support preparation for the Single Audit and annual IRS filings.
- Document and maintain internal controls related to all program disbursements.
- Recommend and implement improvements to grant-related financial procedures.
Collaboration & Communication
- Collaborate with Community Impact teams to draft grant agreements and vendor contracts.
- Review subrecipient payment requests and resolve discrepancies prior to approval.
- Assist Development colleagues with budget preparation and financial data for grant proposals.
- Provide funders and agencies with documentation as needed.
- Review and route contracts for signature; ensure secure and organized recordkeeping.
Accounting Operations
- Contribute to the monthly close process by preparing journal entries, adjustments, and allocations.
- Maintain audit-ready financial documentation for all grant-related transactions.
Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 3–5 years of progressive accounting experience, with a strong focus on grants or fund accounting.
- Prior experience in a nonprofit environment with multiple funding streams.
