Graphic Designer/Artist- Senior (AFRL-21-1325-W):

Bowhead seeks a Senior Graphic Designer/Artist to support the Public Affairs Support Services contract in Dayton, OH. The Senior Graphic Designer/Artist provides professional graphics design support to plan, analyze, and create visual solutions that meet communications and outreach requirements using a variety of methods such as color, type, illustration, photography, animation, and various print and layout techniques and producing promotional displays, communication materials (brochures, posters, fact sheets, etc.), and signage systems.

Essential functions will include:
• Provide design, development, and associated graphics support for briefing slides, reports, illustrations, cover designs, posters, brochures, banners, templates, websites, social media, exhibits, maps, and graphics, etc.
• Provide artistic development of marketing and promotional materials including print, radio and television advertisements, news and feature stories; collateral, and internal and external corporate print and digital publications. Oversees and supports the design and development of complex graphics and illustrations for use in technical materials, manuals, and publications. Artwork may include tables, logos, charts, Power Point presentations, flowcharts, viewgraphs/slides, brochures, forms, illustrations, photographs, promotional materials, posters, banners, displays, templates, postcards, and book covers.
• Graphically illustrate, in detail, scaled hardware models and develop technical display exhibits to explain or increase the understanding of AFRL and its research efforts and technology accomplishments. Activities related to technical displays include design, construction, shipping, set-up, and associated administrative and planning duties.
• File and retrieve electronic and/or paper graphics materials to facilitate research and expedite creation of briefings and support; compile and prepare briefings and reports in hard copy for special and reoccurring reports.
• Design and provide artwork, headers, posters and related products to include, but not limited to various types and styles of briefings, reports, brochures, photographs, original artwork, and illustrations.
• Support the design of technical displays for HQ AFRL, including (but not limited to) the design of award boards for the AFRL Recognition Program, lobby design, facility enhancement and trade shows.
• Support the design of displays this may include (but is not limited to) collaborating, planning, designing, developing, constructing, installing, and associated oversight duties of displays and trade shows.
• Graphically illustrate, in detail, scaled hardware models and develop technical display exhibits to explain or increase the understanding of AFRL and its research efforts and technology accomplishments. Activities related to technical displays may include (but are not limited to) design, construction, shipping, set-up, and associated administrative and planning duties.
• Develop style guidance tools and templates for use across AFRL enterprise to effectively brand the organization
• Provide artistic development of marketing and promotional materials including print, news and feature stories; collateral, and internal and external corporate print and digital publications. Oversees and supports the design and development of complex graphics and illustrations for use in technical materials, manuals, and publications. Artwork may include tables, logos, charts, Power Point presentations, flowcharts, brochures, forms, illustrations, photographs, and promotional materials.
• Exhibit knowledge and skill in applying advanced principles in graphic design and editing pertaining to assigned tasks.
• Exhibit knowledge in working with readily available sources of information on the appropriate subjects including library resources and subject-matter experts, and knowledge of publication standards in working with unclassified processing (e.g., Air Force Branding Book, Style Guide).
• Collaborate and coordinate with AFRL/PA to ensure consistent AFRL internal and external messaging and branding.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree with a minimum of 6 years experience within the DOD community.
• Execute projects from conception through completion and will possess demonstrated skill and fluency to utilize a variety of industry standard software formats to create and edit electronic products and manage projects. These include but are not limited to the Adobe Creative Cloud (e.g., Photoshop, Illustrator, and In-Design, Premier, After Effects, and Bridge) and the Adobe Digital Publishing Suite.
• Exhibit knowledge in working with readily available sources of information on the appropriate subjects including library resources and subject-matter experts, and knowledge of publication standards in working with unclassified processing (e.g., Air Force Branding Book, Style Guide).
• Exhibit knowledge of OSD, Joint Agencies, Services and USAF grammar, writing, editing practices, and style requirements.
• Exhibit experience in the ability to acquire and design technical graphic information through independent research analysis, interviews with subject-matter specialists, or other appropriate methods as required.
• Exhibit the ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, to gain cooperation from others through tact, courtesy, and diplomacy; and ability to maintain good working relationships.

SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Must able to obtain a security clearance at the Secret level. Possessing an active Secret Clearance is preferred. US Citizenship is a requirement for Secret clearance at this location.
