About Us
Through leading innovations, we help farmers around the world meet the challenge of feeding a growing population and taking care of our planet. We are currently seeking a Greenhouse Plant Scientist for the Greenhouse Corn Team in the Research Triangle Parkway area of NC.
You will help meet the worldrsquo;s most pressing needs by:
Conducting biology and trait research activities in greenhouses, growth chambers, and laboratories
Own protocol development to optimize operational efficiency associated with plant care and seed production
Deliver project milestones using science based approaches
Accountabilities
Subject matter expert in plant biology for major field crops
Initiate and monitor environmental controls in growth rooms
Design, test and implement innovative ideas and concepts to optimize plant growth and development
Make observations and record data in databases and other record keeping tools
Stay current on developments in greenhouse technology through literature, seminars, and workshops
Perform activities including planting, watering, tissue sampling, pollination, harvesting, seed processing, seed inventory management, and shipments
Monitor supply inventory and order consumables
Scout and apply pesticides and biologicals to control diseases and pests
Bachelorrsquo;s Degree in Biology or a closely related field required
3-5 years working with greenhouse and biotechnology in a professional setting
Work 40 hours per week during weekdays, weekends and holidays
Excellent knowledge of plant biology and plant physiology
Knowledge of greenhouse equipment and operations
Ability to identify plant diseases and pests
Excellent record keeping skills and demonstrated attention to detail
Must be authorized to work for Syngenta in the United States without work authorization sponsorship
Preferred Requirements
Ability to work with a variety of crops
Demonstrated ability and motivation to work in unsupervised situations
Computer skills such as working with databases, environmental controls, and Microsoft Office
