Unit Description

The University of Tampa is a comprehensive, independent university located on 110-acres in the heart of downtown Tampa.  The location provides an historical and cultural setting for learning both on and off campus. Valuing the community’s international heritage, the University attracts students, faculty, and staff from around the world with diverse backgrounds to facilitate intercultural awareness and understanding. Four colleges offer more than 200 areas of study through a core curriculum rooted in a liberal arts tradition.


The overall campus grounds are comprised of historic Plant Park along the Hillsborough River, several athletic fields (natural and synthetic turf), 11 residence halls with parks and patios for outdoor learning.  With recent Div. II championships, yearlong residents and summer camps, the grounds are a continual focus to meeting the expanding needs of academics, recreation and community living.

Position Summary

Provides supervision for grounds maintenance and landscape development services at account/unit to ensure client satisfaction and retention for the Company. Implements business practices in order to uphold Company mission and values. Contributes to account revenue and operating profit contribution through the implementation of services and creation of opportunities for growth. Position is utilized in large, complex accounts that include large acreage and or multiple services, including but not limited to: Golf courses, athletic facilities, and multiple locations.


Directs daily grounds maintenance and landscape development service operations to ensure employees have appropriate equipment and resources to perform their jobs and meet goals and deadlines.     Owns and develops client relationships and client satisfaction in grounds maintenance and landscaping development services by developing strategy for services at account.    60%

Ensures compliance with all federal, state and local regulations as well as Sodexo/client policies and procedures (e.g. quality assurance, safety, operations, personnel). Establishes a safe work environment for employees by providing safety-related training and equipment maintenance and by ensuring compliance with Sodexho safety and loss prevention programs and with standards and procedures for the handling and storage of hazardous materials and/or waste.     15%

Supervises day-to-day work activities by delegating authority, assigning and prioritizing activities and monitoring operating standards, including providing positive and constructive feedback to employees in order to reward, coach, correct and motivate.     15%


Supervision of internal staff and external vendors in areas such as facilities security, facilities maintenance & repair, custodial & groundskeeping services, office administration and secretarial services    15%

Establishes operating standards, implements quality improvements and communicates them to employees.    5%

Manages the budget by controlling costs (e.g. labor, inventory, equipment, materials), complying with budget requirements and making adjustments when necessary.    5%
