Title: Group Engineering Manager- 72573

As a key part of the John Deere Financial IT Leadership team you will be leading a global team of talented software and data engineers across four continents to deliver transformational software products and services for the 3rd largest equipment finance and leasing organization in the USA

As a GroupEngineering Manager at John Deere Financial, you will provide critical leadership to guide major technology decisions (e.g., upgrade decisions, major architectural decisions, establishment of coding standards) in alignment with the needs and priorities of the digital product organization. You will be the leader of multiple software product engineering teams responsible for the full lifecycle of critical digital capabilities. In addition, you will;


  • Set overall technical direction and provide technical and people leadership for the team
  • Hold agile digital product engineering teams accountable to technical standards that will promote security, quality, delivery and cost effectiveness
  • Be a visionary technical leader for teams of software engineers responsible for the full lifecycle ownership of their digital products
  • Ensure scrum teams align their efforts to the needs of the business and work within the framework of overall IT strategy
  • Demonstrate servant leadership in guiding and coaching a highly technical team of individuals to delivery world class digital products
  • Manage the budget and appropriation of funds for the digital product to ensure highest value priorities are delivered
  • Collaborate with Product Management, Customers, Architects and Teams to ensure a highly valuable product roadmap and strategic intent

Required Skills, Knowledge, & Relevant Work Experience

  • 6+ years' experience of experience working across a wide breadth of technology competencies, such as Application Development, Data Engineering, APIs, Databases, Cloud, Data Analytics, etc
  • Strong knowledge of either Java or Python
  • 4+ years leading and Agile team, with proven deep experience leveraging DevSecOps culture & practices
  • 4+ years' experience working with cloud scale data and database capabilities
  • Proven ability to develop team culture through servant leader mindset including ability to recruit and retain high technical talent
  • Proven ability to remove roadblocks (technical & business) for teams
  • Passionate around technical mentoring and coaching within and outside of teams including providing candid/effective performance feedback
  • Proven deep experience with test-driven development and software test automation
  • Growth mindset - willingness to deal and thrive in uncertainty

Desired Skills, Knowledge & Relevant Work Experience

  • Strong experience in application of sound architecture (e.g. loosely coupled architecture, modular design patterns) to evaluate designs and implementation
  • Proven experience of strong technical leadership in modern industry engineering practices
  • Understanding and experience applying data governance best practices
  • Experience and knowledge of Artificial Intelligence and/or Machine Learning techniques
  • Highly collaborative and ability to influence without authority
  • Advanced communication skills; e.g. ability to translate technical concepts into non-technical terms
  • Learning Agility / Innovative - desire and openness for continuous technical learning and applying the learning to job related activities


  • Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science or Engineering
