We are based out of Huntsville, AL. This position is located in Ashburn, Va.
A Hardware Technician plays a key role in the design, development, testing, and maintenance of hardware systems and components. This person will support the hands-on aspects of developing and maintaining hardware systems, and their work is crucial for keeping everything running smoothly.
Job Title: Hardware Technician
Key Responsibilities:
1. Design and Prototyping:
They assist hardware engineers in designing hardware systems, components, or circuits, often contributing to the creation of prototypes for new devices or systems.
2. Assembly and Installation:
They help with the physical assembly of hardware devices, ensuring that all components are properly installed and connected. This could include working with circuit boards, processors, or other electronic components.
3. Testing and Troubleshooting:
A big part of the job is testing hardware systems to make sure they function properly. They use specialized tools to diagnose issues, repair malfunctioning components, and perform performance tests.
4. Maintenance and Upgrades:
Hardware engineers and technicians perform routine maintenance on systems, upgrade components, and ensure that hardware stays up to date with technological advancements.
5. Documentation:
They help document the design, specifications, and test results of hardware systems, often ensuring that everything meets industry standards and safety regulations.
6. Collaboration:
They work closely with engineers, developers, and other technicians to ensure that hardware systems integrate seamlessly with software and other technologies.
Required Skills:
CompTIA Security + or plus certification
Proficiency in hardware design software
Knowledge of power systems and electrical engineering principles.
Experience with testing and debugging hardware.
Experience in software testing and compatibility.
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Good communication and teamwork abilities.
Educational Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field (Masters degree may be preferred for senior roles).
Relevant certifications or additional training may be beneficial.
Experience:
2-5 years of experience in hardware design and development (varies depending on the role level)
Hands-on experience with hardware testing, prototyping, and troubleshooting
Software testing and compatibility experience
CompTIA Security + or plus certification
Secret clearance is required
