This position involves overseeing the operations of a large kitchen under the supervision of a Nutrition Services Administrator or Dietitian.

  • Supervise and direct kitchen staff, including cooks, and occasionally perform food preparation and cooking activities.
  • Assign shifts to staff, determine food quantities to meet menus, order and manage food supplies.
  • Inspect kitchen and pantry areas to ensure proper cooking, sanitation, and safety procedures.
  • Provide training to kitchen staff and maintain operational records, including accident reports and work repair orders.
  • Ensure compliance with accreditation standards when applicable.

  • Minimum Qualifications:
  • Five years of large-scale cooking experience, with two years in supervisory roles.
  • An associate degree or higher in culinary arts or food service may substitute for two years of experience.
  • Additional credentials or background checks may be required for some positions.
