This position involves overseeing the operations of a large kitchen under the supervision of a Nutrition Services Administrator or Dietitian.
- Supervise and direct kitchen staff, including cooks, and occasionally perform food preparation and cooking activities.
- Assign shifts to staff, determine food quantities to meet menus, order and manage food supplies.
- Inspect kitchen and pantry areas to ensure proper cooking, sanitation, and safety procedures.
- Provide training to kitchen staff and maintain operational records, including accident reports and work repair orders.
- Ensure compliance with accreditation standards when applicable.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Five years of large-scale cooking experience, with two years in supervisory roles.
- An associate degree or higher in culinary arts or food service may substitute for two years of experience.
- Additional credentials or background checks may be required for some positions.
