Head of Global Operations & Business Lead, Project Kuiper

Project Kuiper is an initiative to launch a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites that will provide low-latency, high-speed broadband connectivity to serve communities around the world.

We are seeking a talented global leader who will drive both operational excellence and lead business planning for B2B customers. The ideal candidate will combine strategic business planning with operational execution capabilities, focused on delivering exceptional customer experiences while building and managing our regional presence. This will include partnering with BD and Sales teams for each B2B vertical, as well as building and leading regional teams responsible for managing operations across the globe.

Export Control Requirement:
Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Key job responsibilities

  1. Develop and execute comprehensive global strategy, including go-to-market plans for each region, business models, and operational frameworks, partnering with product, sales, and operational teams across Kuiper.
  2. Build and manage local operations teams while coordinating with existing Amazon operations.
  3. Establish and maintain strategic partnerships with service providers, distributors, and other key stakeholders.
  4. Drive operational readiness through planning, cross-functional coordination, and partnership development for each region/country we enter.
  5. Establish and monitor operational KPIs and business performance metrics.
  6. Manage end-to-end service delivery, including field operations, distribution, partner performance, and customer support.
  7. Lead business development efforts and contract negotiations with local partners.
  8. Partner with legal, tax, and regulatory teams for country-specific planning.
  9. Once operational, own P&L to achieve business goals while optimizing costs and ensuring customer satisfaction.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  1. 8+ years of experience managing operational or business teams.
  2. Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  3. 5+ years experience in P&L management.
  4. 5+ years experience in internet, telecommunications, satellite, or enterprise services.
  5. Proven track record in developing, negotiating, and executing business agreements.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Experience building and managing large-scale, successful teams.
  2. International business operations experience.
  3. Regional language skills relevant to position.
  4. Ability to travel internationally regularly.
  5. Strong analytical and negotiation skills.
  6. Experience in both US and international operations.
  7. Demonstrated success in entrepreneurial, fast-paced environments.
  8. Track record of leadership in general management positions.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $158,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $262,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
