JOB LOCATION:  Kaua’i Veterans Memorial Hospital – Waimea, Kaua’i, HI

FUNCTION: This position is located in the Radiology area of the Urgent Care at Po’ipu/The Clinic at Po’ipu. The Urgent Care at Po’ipu/The Clinic at Po’ipu is part of the Kaua’i Region, Hawai’i Health Systems Corporation, a public benefit corporation of the State of Hawaii operating nine (9) facilities statewide.

This position is under the supervision of a higher level Imaging Specialist and is responsible for performing various procedures for imaging of human anatomy. This includes transferal and photographing of images, archiving and performing appropriate protocols. The Imaging Specialist II provides all diagnostic and therapeutic services, scheduled or emergency procedures as required for the care and treatment of ambulatory patients. The position may work on rotating shifts, with work on weekends and holidays and require standby and call back duty. Position may require coverage at Samuel Mahelona Memorial Hospital or Kaua’i Veterans Memorial Hospital, as directed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

To qualify, you must meet all of the following requirements. Please note that unless specifically indicated, the required education and experience may not be gained concurrently. In addition, qualifying work experiences are credited based on a 40-hour workweek.

Education: Successful completion of an accredited program in Radiologic Technology with a certificate or associate degree, or equivalent. Degree from an approved program recognized by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT).

Licensure: A current State of Hawaii Radiologic Technologist license as a radiographer at the time of appointment.

Experience: Two (2) years of work experience as a Imaging Specialist in a medically oriented institution. Such experience must have demonstrated basic knowledge of Radiography.

Certification: Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) must be obtained on day of employment.

KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITY REQUIRED

Knowledge of:  Basic knowledge of Operation of imaging equipment, radiation safety, and departmental protocols, standard precautions, hospital policies and procedures, rules and regulations, government regulatory requirements and accrediting standards, and the policies, procedures and work rules of the work site..

Ability to:  Perform the full range of services, function independently and provide instruction regarding imaging procedures and radiation safety to lower level staff and other health care providers.
